The National Fund for Excellence in American Indian Education (The National Fund) grant program is dedicated to improving academic outcomes for students enrolled in BIE schools. To advance this mission, in partnership with the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), the National Fund raises private and philanthropic funds to support BIE-funded schools.

What is the purpose of this grant?
This grant is designed to improve academic outcomes for students enrolled in BIE-funded schools by supporting the expansion or creation of Native language instruction programs, including immersion initiatives.How much funding is available?
A total of $6,500,000 is available. The National Fund expects to award 6 to 12 grants, with individual award amounts based on the scope, need, and potential impact of each proposal.Who is eligible to apply?
Eligible applicants include BIE-funded schools, both Bureau-operated and Tribally controlled, that seek to enhance or launch Native language instruction programs.What types of projects are considered fundable?
Projects may include (but are not limited to):*Expanding existing language immersion programs

*Launching new immersion classrooms or grade levels
*Supporting community-based language instructors or mentorship programs
*Integrating Native language learning with culturally grounded academic supports
Can funding be used for staff salaries or curriculum development?
